On March 30, The Grainger College of Engineering hosted a panel of tech giants to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the transistor. John Bardeen, a former professor of physics and electrical engineering at Illinois, invented the bedrock of microelectronics as we know it today. He taught at Illinois for nearly 25 years and is the only person to win a Nobel Prize in physics twice.
