The AIA Illinois 2008 Honor Awards: A Celebration of Better Illinois Communities by Design recognized the people and projects representing the best of the architecture profession, the power of design, and the dedication of individuals to service and excellence. All award winners exemplify positive impacts on regions great and small and help create more livable communities in Illinois. This year the design for the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory of the University of Illinois designed by Teng and Associates (Thomas Hoepf, FAIA, Principal Design Architect) was among those nominees selected as finalists for an AIA Illinois Honor Award. At the awards banquet, the MNTL design was selected for the AIA Illinois Frank Lloyd Wright Award (Citation of Merit). Professor Jim Coleman represented MNTL at the ceremony dinner to receive the award along with Teng and Associates.
