Faculty and Staff Category Definitions

Faculty members affiliated with the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory are classified into three categories:

Full-Time Resident Faculty are those who have their primary office, laboratory space, research group, and most or all of their research activities based in MNTL.

Part-Time Resident Faculty are those who have a secondary shared office and/or laboratory space, or some part of their research group housed in MNTL. These faculty members have their primary office and research presence outside of MNTL.

Affiliated Faculty are those whose research group members use of any of the shared laboratory facilities located in the Micro and Nanotechnology Lab, or who have significant collaboration and/or joint grants with Full-Time Resident Faculty in MNTL.

Full-Time Resident Faculty and Part-Time Resident Faculty will be granted a 0% “Research Professor” appointment in the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory.  Affiliate Faculty will be granted a 0% “Department Affiliate” appointment in the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory.  All will receive our biannual newsletter, weekly electronic newsletter, and any other major research related news or announcement from MNTL.
